Meet the team

The owner and co-founder of Fresh Mechanical, today Anthony uses his skills as our managing director. A typical day sees him working on tenders, designs, and working closely with customers to create competitive offerings and innovations in the HVAC project industry. Anthony regularly works closely with customers, both current and new, and acts as a liaison between them and the in-house Fresh expertise.

Anthony sets the tone and direction of the company. Following his leadership means we’re able to provide our full service, from design and procurement, through to installation to our high quality standards.

“I take pride that Fresh now employes over 20 engineers who Fresh has trained from scratch. We invest in our people, training juniors to qualified FGas engineers. Most of the team have been with us since the beginning of their careers.”

His background and long experience as an installation engineer is what led Thomas, and best friend Anthony Evans, to found Fresh Mechanical. That was many years ago. Today Thomas is Fresh’s Operations Director. Along with the day-to-day responsibilities of a company director, Thomas oversees the site-work and quality management, and is the main point of contact for all customers. He wants all customers to know that they can always rely on Fresh.

And with all of this Thomas still finds time to go back to the tools and back to his roots as an installation engineer. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

Ben’s role as project manager comes with two main areas of responsibility, both equally important to Fresh. As a designer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems Ben’s involvement comes right at the start of projects. Designing the perfect system for a customer is a specialist job, and Ben’s experience spans many years.

But Ben’s involvement doesn’t end there, as his other responsibility is as project manager. So from the beginning of HVAC design and installation, to the end, you’ll find Ben keeping everything on track.

“I’ve worked for loads of great, and well known companies over my years at Fresh. Even so our installation for Aston Martin sticks out. It was great fun to watch the Aston Martin test drivers put new cars through their paces at the test-track.”

Job titles are just a short-hand for something more complex. Perhaps none more so than ‘Accounts Manager’. Really it should be this: intelligence, friendliness and work-ethic combine to build and maintain great relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers. Really, we couldn’t do what we do without Fliss (Felicity).

Fliss has been in and about the Fresh office since our very beginning. She’s seen us evolve and grow and is an integral part of the team. Along with her colleagues Fliss adds to the happy, usually laughter-filled office atmosphere.

We’ve always had a customer-first and can-do attitude. In the early days of Fresh I got press-ganged into pitching in over a weekend. I spent both days lagging pipework and clearing the site for our installation. It was very different to what was then my day job!

At the beating heart of the Fresh office, Emma always knows what’s going on. She provides a vital link between the Fresh directors, the engineers, and the accounts. Emma makes sure projects get completed in a timely fashion, and that costs are correctly allocated.

An expert organiser, Emma has designed and implemented several processes to help Fresh identify projects, track progress, and control costs. She’s also responsible for cost comparisons, and maintains excellent relationships with suppliers and customers.

“I love that each day is different. Today I’m visiting a client. Tomorrow I’m driving vans for servicing. The next day I’m creating efficiency processes. But in the end, I love that Fresh looks after its people. There’s a real family feel to Fresh.”

One of Michelle’s functions is payroll, and without her none of us would get paid. So you can imagine we’re very keen to have her around! She’s the main link between the engineering teams onsite, and the office staff. She takes care of requests from the engineers, while ensuring everyone has the appropriate authorisation for onsite work.

She considers the engineering team her clients, and works hard for them, so they can concentrate on providing excellent installations. Holidays, payroll, expenses and timesheets – these things are critical to the smooth running of the Fresh enterprise. She does all this with a friendly and welcoming smile, all day, everyday.

“The office dynamic is one of fun and laughter. Everyday is a pleasure to be part of a fantastic team with wonderful beautiful people. On top of that it’s been a pleasure to watch the team succeed and grow over the years.”

In terms of providing top-quality HVAC installations and excellent customer service, Matt is simply in a league of his own. A stalwart member of the Fresh team, his invaluable contribution includes a can-do, lead by example attitude; a truly thorough understanding of HVAC engineering; and a passion for passing his knowledge on to the younger generation. That’s what Matt brings to Fresh, and that’s why his colleagues and customers all rate him so highly. He’s proud to be a tradesman, and we’re proud to have him on the team.

“I recall doing an install for Chester Zoo. They’re a huge organisation, with a million things to do every day. We were there to keep staff and animals comfortable. Just another day at the office? Well, no. It’s different with a gang of warthogs watching you work!”

Dom takes real pride in the neatness of his installations. Ask him why and he’ll tell you: it’s because an installation that is pleasing to the eye eventually fades from notice, blending into the building itself. It’s also because it’s much easier to maintain, saving time and money for us, and the customer.

Dom is knowledgeable, a well-trained HVAC installation engineer, and a highly valued member of the Fresh team.

“Two favourite memories spring to mind. We had a day out to Twickenham and saw England play. And I worked at Jaguar Land Rover, and got to see the workshop and test track.”

Luke is a friendly guy, who likes to keep customers well informed about their installation. What goes where? Why? How does it work? He’ll happily answer all the frequently asked questions, and some less than frequent too. He does this for customers, while continuing to work away, efficiently and neatly to keep the project on schedule.

Luke was trained in-house by our very own senior engineers. He continues to learn and grow, as do we all, and we see great things in his future.
